The release of Manju Warrier’s movie ‘Footage’ was postponed. The decision was made in the wake of the Wayanad landslide disaster that left Kerala in tears. Originally, the film was set to hit the silver screens on August 2.

“With prayers we stand with the people of Wayanad who are suffering from the rains and landslides that have sowed misery. The release of our film Footage, which was scheduled to release on August 2, has been postponed to another day”

‘Footage’ is editor Saiju Sreedharan's directorial debut with Manju Warrier in the lead role. The movie which is presented by Anurag Kashyap is brought to the audience by Martin Prakkat Films. Along with Manju Warrier, Vishak Nair and Gayathri Ashok also appear in main roles. 

Similarly, the update for the film 'Ajayante Randam Moshanam' which was scheduled to come out on Tuesday has also been postponed. The director of the film, Jithin Lal, announced through his social media handle.

“In the context of the great disaster that occurred in Wayanad, as a mark of mourning, the announcement of our movie update, which was scheduled for today at 5.00 pm, has been postponed to another day.”

The South Indian Film Academy (SIFA) also announced that its ‘Vidyarambham’ (beginning of classes) will be postponed. This programme will be rescheduled by the film school located in Kochi, which was founded by Listin Stephen of Magic Frames and chaired by acclaimed filmmaker Shaji Kailas.

A post on its website stated, “Due to the recent devastating landslides in Wayanad and as a mark of respect to the lives lost, we have decided to postpone SIFA Vidyarambham. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims. We will announce the new dates soon. Let’s come together to support those affected and rebuild together.” 

Additionally, the release of the Malayalam film ‘Adios Amigo’, starring Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu has also been postponed. It was originally scheduled for August 2. The producer of ‘Adios Amigo’, Ashiq Usman, announced that the movie will be delayed because of the Wayanad tragedy. The revised release date has not yet been announced. 

“As we cope with the incessant rains and the calamity that has struck Wayanad , our hearts go out to the families and loved ones who have suffered unimaginable loss. This is a time of immense grief and sorrow, and we stand in solidarity with those affected. We know that this tragedy has impacted all of us deeply in one way or the other, hence we would like to postpone the release . Our thoughts are with those affected by this calamity,” said Ashiq Usman.
