‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’ is returning for a second season on Netflix after a widely discussed first season. The reality series, created by Ekta Kapoor, will once again bring celebrities into its jail-themed setup, with Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan returning as the jailer duo.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Manisha Sharma, and showrun by Malaya Pradhan, the second season will introduce a new set of contestants, secrets, confrontations and challenges.

The first season became a major talking point, with the makers stating that its most-shared moments generated more than 5 billion views across social media and word of mouth. The show's format placed celebrities in a competitive environment where their personal stories and past experiences became an integral part of the game.

Season 1 saw contestants address perceptions surrounding them, with confessions, arguments, friendships and emotional revelations becoming some of the show's most discussed moments. The series combined reality competition with a format that encouraged contestants to reveal and confront aspects of their personal lives.

Netflix India VP of Content Monika Shergill said the first season became "appointment viewing overnight", adding that audiences engaged with the contestants and conversations beyond the episodes. She said the second season will bring "many new surprises" for viewers.

 

 

Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms and creator of ‘Lock Upp’, said the response to the first season went beyond expectations. According to Kapoor, the conversations surrounding the contestants and their memorable moments continued even after the finale.

 

Kapoor also confirmed the return of Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan as the jailers for the new season, saying their pairing will bring a new energy and dynamic to the next chapter.

The makers are yet to reveal the Season 2 contestants and premiere date. The new season will return viewers to the ‘Lock Upp’ jail with fresh personalities, tasks and stories.
