KPop Demon Hunters became a global sensation on Netflix, topping charts in 93 countries. Now, fans are demanding a sequel

KPop Demon Hunters, the animated action-musical featuring a K-pop girl group that secretly battles demons, has quickly become one of Netflix’s biggest surprise hits of 2025.
Premiered on June 20, the film has garnered over 56 million views, topped charts in 93 countries, and scored 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans are now wondering: Will there be a Season 2?
What is the film about?
The story follows fictional idol group HUNTR/X—Rumi, Mira, and Zoey—who balance their stardom with demon-slaying duties passed down through generations. Their enemy? The Saja Boys, a demon-infused boy band. The final act reveals a major twist: Rumi is half-demon, and Jinu, a demon-turned-ally, sacrifices himself, opening the door for future storylines.
Has Netflix confirmed a sequel?
Not yet officially, but the creators are optimistic.
Co-director Maggie Kang told Variety: “We’ve set up so much backstory. There are lots of unanswered questions and character arcs we had to leave out.”
She explained that while the first film centred on Rumi, Zoey and Mira also have deep stories waiting to be told. The voice cast—Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji Young Yoo—are all eager to return.
Why is demand so high?
- Strong global performance
- Cliffhanger ending
- Viral soundtrack outperforming real K-pop hits
- Fandom around fictional group HUNTR/X
- Unique mix of anime action + K-pop drama
What’s next?
The creators have hinted at plans for Season 2 or a spinoff, but Netflix has yet to make an official announcement. Until then, fans are holding out hope—and streaming the OST on repeat.
With huge viewership, strong reviews, and a passionate fanbase, KPop Demon Hunters looks primed for a comeback. The sequel may not be confirmed, but all signs point to a second chapter in the works.
