In a heartfelt tribute, director Lal Jose shared his memories of the beloved actress KPAC Lalitha in a recent video on his YouTube channel. He described her as the 'WCC' of film sets during her time, highlighting her authority and the freedom she had to address grievances directly with those involved.
Lal Jose noted the rarity of enduring actresses in the industry, stating, "There are very few who have remained in cinema for so long. Sukumariamma and Lalitha chechi were two indispensable figures in Malayalam cinema. Lalitha chechi had a considerable background and influence in Kerala's professional theatre scene and was a regular presence in Kamal sir's films. I first joined his team as an assistant on a project with her."

He reminisced about Lalitha's role on set, likening her to a maternal figure. "If there were any unnecessary issues on set, there was no ‘WCC’ (Women in Cinema Collective) back then; it was Lalitha chechi. If you raised a complaint with her, she would ensure that the concerned individuals were addressed. She had that kind of freedom; if she spoke, there would be no further appeal."
Lal Jose recounted how Lalitha encouraged him to become a co-director alongside her husband, Bharathan, while they were on the sets of Vadhu Doctoranu. She expressed excitement about the potential collaboration; unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, this partnership did not materialize.
Although Lalitha appeared in many films during his time as an assistant director, it was only in "Elsamma Enna Aankutty" that he got the chance to work with her after becoming an independent director. Lal Jose expressed his joy that, even if it was late, she was called for an important role. He added that Lalitha mentioned feeling very happy about the part, shedding light on her enduring legacy in the industry.
