Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police on Tuesday released an awareness video reminding citizens that the force is always by their side in times of need. The short clip, however, caught public attention for a different reason; it featured scenes from Mammootty’s film Unda, where the veteran actor plays a police officer.

The video carried a caption in Malayalam, which roughly translates to “We will always be with you. For help, dial 112.” While the message was intended as an educational reminder, social media users quickly noticed the timing, with many saying the police department had also used the opportunity to extend a subtle welcome back to Mammootty, who recently announced his return after a brief health-related break.

Some users commented, “Welcome back Mammookka,” while others noted that Kerala Police had adopted a trend-setting approach to handling social media.

“Even Kerala Police didn’t shy away from making a video to welcome back the actor,” one user commented. Others praised the department for walking with the trend and creatively combining awareness with a tribute to the megastar.

Mammootty, who broke his silence through a note shared by his secretary earlier this week, confirmed his recovery and thanked fans for their love and prayers. Wishes had poured in from across the film fraternity, including Mohanlal, Prithviraj, and Manju Warrier.

In a post on the actor’s Instagram, George, who is Mammootty’s personal secretary and the MD of Mammootty Kampany, wrote, “I stand in front of you with my eyes filled with joy. And for those who prayed, to those who stood with me, to those who comforted me, saying that nothing will happen, with unending love, dear ones... Thank you!”
