Pop icon Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have sparked a media frenzy after they were seen dining together at a high-end restaurant in Montreal on Monday night, just a month after Perry confirmed her breakup with long-time partner Orlando Bloom.

Dinner sparks dating rumours

The unexpected pair were photographed sharing a relaxed, multi-course dinner that reportedly included lobster and cocktails. According to People magazine, the two appeared in good spirits throughout the evening and were kind to restaurant staff. “Katy and Justin seemed to have had a fantastic evening,” a restaurant spokesperson told the publication. “They were super kind and friendly to the staff, and it was an absolute pleasure to have them at the restaurant.”

Following the meal, Perry and Trudeau reportedly met the restaurant’s head chef, Danny Smiles, and personally thanked the kitchen team.

A day out in Montreal

Earlier that same day, Perry and Trudeau were seen taking a leisurely stroll through Mount Royal Park. As reported by TMZ, Trudeau wore jeans, a navy T-shirt and a cap, while Perry was dressed in jeans, a white blouse, matching flats and a wide-brimmed sun hat that partially concealed her face. Trudeau, 53, appeared cheerful as he walked alongside Perry and her dog.

Later that night, the pair were also spotted enjoying drinks together at Taverne Atlantic, further fuelling speculation about the nature of their relationship.

Breakups and new beginnings?

The outing comes amid significant changes in both their personal lives. In June 2025, Katy Perry announced the end of her engagement to actor Orlando Bloom after nearly ten years together. The former couple, who share four-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom, have committed to co-parenting and reportedly remain amicable.

Trudeau, meanwhile, separated from his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The former couple has three children together: Xavier (17), Ella-Grace (16), and Hadrien (11).

Romance or friendship?

While fans are buzzing online with speculation about a possible romance, sources close to the situation have poured cold water on the rumours. According to TMZ, Chef Danny Smiles confirmed that the two did not engage in any public displays of affection during their dinner. Though social media is eager to label the outing a “date night,” there is no official confirmation yet regarding the nature of their relationship.

Perry is currently in Canada as part of her ‘Lifetimes’ tour, which continues across multiple cities.
