In a heartwarming moment, renowned lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri sang a song and shared a moment of friendship with Malayalam cinema’s beloved Jagathy Sreekumar. The rare occasion took place when Jagathy Sreekumar was presented with the Unnikrishnan Namboothiri Award, named after the legendary figure in Malayalam cinema. 

The duo was seen singing along to KJ Yesudas's song 'Manikya Veenayumayen...', which was released in 2001 for the movie 'Kattu Pookkal'

Kaithapram, expressing his admiration for Jagathy, said, "I like to call him Jagathichetan. Though we are of the same age, I prefer to address him like that because he is an unparalleled talent in the Malayalam film industry." Jagathy joined in by keeping the rhythm of the song, filling the hearts of everyone present.

The award ceremony was held at Jagathy Sreekumar's residence, where Minister MB Rajesh presented the award. The prize included ₹50,000 and a sculpture designed by Unni Kanayi.

Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, the father of Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri’s wife, was a legendary figure in the Malayalam film industry. The ceremony was attended by family members of Unnikrishnan Namboothiri, including his children Justice Kunhikrishnan, Bhavadas, Jagathy Sreekumar's son Rajkumar, MLAs TI Madhusoodanan, M Vijin, former MLA TV Rajesh, and members of the Trust Award Committee.
