Katy Perry has opened up about her whirlwind romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, telling People that her The Lifetimes Tour led her straight to him. On a difficult stretch, Perry said she learned how to step back into her purpose and called meeting him "the greatest gift from this tour."

She didn't shy away from critics of her tour's ambition either, insisting she's living her life to the fullest despite the ‘cringe’ comments.

The singer also revisited the painful split from fiancé Orlando Bloom, which became public while she was on the road in Australia. She described it as an isolating moment, saying she was crying and far from her support system back home, until, in her words, her ‘angels went to work.’

Perry and Trudeau were first photographed together shortly after her breakup became public. She explained that things changed once she met him on tour, and that she'd been actively manifesting ‘true love’ around that time.

Looking back on her nine-year relationship with Bloom, she framed it as a necessary lesson she had to move past to find what she called her ‘missing puzzle piece.’ 

Of Trudeau specifically, she said he's supportive, knows her songs by heart, and that being with him feels ‘super healing.’

The renewed spotlight comes as Perry's concert film, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris, hits theatres, her record-setting 91-date, 23-country run, her first major tour in seven years.
