Bruce Campbell, the Royal Oak-born ‘Evil Dead’ star, opened up about his cancer prognosis during a recent appearance on ‘The Adam Carolla Show.’ 

The actor told host Adam Carolla that his current treatment plan is for around a five-year timeline. When Carolla asked directly if that meant Campbell had five years left to live, the actor confirmed it, adding simply, "give or take."

Campbell first revealed his diagnosis in March, describing the cancer on social media as treatable but not curable, without disclosing the specific type.

He explained at the time that going public was necessary because his appearances, conventions, and other professional work would need to take a back seat to treatment, to recover enough over the summer to tour with his new film this fall.

During the Carolla interview, Campbell described his mindset as a deliberate choice to live with the disease rather than be defined by death.

He compared the experience to a constant game of whack-a-mole, saying the illness keeps disrupting different parts of his body, forcing him to handle each new issue as it comes while trying to manage everything at once.

He also said he's steered clear of cancer support communities and research forums, preferring not to get pulled into the volume of information out there.

Campbell appeared on the podcast mainly to promote ‘Ernie & Emma,’ a dramedy he stars in and directed about a widowed man scattering his late wife's ashes on a road trip. His real-life wife, Ida Gearon, produced the film, which premiered last month in Medford, Oregon, and is now headed out on an 18-stop tour of Alamo Drafthouse theatres, running September 4 through November 14.

In a follow-up post on X over the weekend, Campbell suggested he was ready to move past the topic, saying he'd said what he needed to and wanted to get back to focusing on daily life.

Back in March, he'd closed his original announcement on a defiant note, reassuring fans of his resilience and the strong support system around him.
