Thalapathy Vijay`s `Jana Nayagan` release date finally confirmed for February 2026 after delays. Get the latest updates & details here!

Mumbai: Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan, which was originally slated for a Pongal release on January 9, 2026, may finally hit theatres by the end of February after weeks of uncertainty due to certification delays.
The film’s release was stalled earlier this year after it failed to receive clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in time, leaving fans waiting for an official update from the makers.
According to a report by Lets Cinema, the makers are now eyeing a theatrical release window between February 12 and February 26. Overseas distributors have reportedly been alerted to begin preparations, suggesting that the film is close to securing CBFC approval. However, an official confirmation from the production team is still awaited.
Why was the film delayed?
Jana Nayagan was planned as a festive Pongal release but ran into certification issues, which later led to legal proceedings and further delays. With these hurdles now nearing resolution, the film is expected to move closer to its long-pending theatrical debut.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is being positioned as Vijay’s final film before he steps into politics, a new phase of his career.
The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, and Sunil in key roles.
