The wait is over, and the competition is heating up! The highly anticipated nomination list for the prestigious Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards was unveiled on Friday, revealing a fierce contest among the region's top content creators. While India had hoped to make a bigger splash, the country managed to secure only four nominations across 14 categories, with two nods for the critically acclaimed ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’.

Meanwhile, series from China, Indonesia, and Japan emerged as the clear frontrunners, dominating the nominations and setting the stage for a thrilling showdown. Here’s everything you need to know about the awards and their nominations.

India at the awards

Although most nominations were bagged by other Asian countries, India’s only three series have received nominations, of which Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ received two nods. The series has been nominated under the Best OTT Original alongside ‘Boyhood,’ ‘Death’s Game,’ ‘The Double,’ ‘GG Precinct: Season 1,’ and ‘Uncle Samsik.’ Its song, ‘Sakal Ban’, has also received a nod in the Best Original Song category.

Apart from ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,’ BBC Studios India’s ‘Wedding.con,’ a web series based on true events showing how five women were conned by men posing as grooms online, is competing in the Best Reality & Variety category.

On the other hand, Amazon Prime Video’s critically acclaimed series ‘Poacher’ has also been nominated. Actor Kani Kusruti, who played the role of a forest officer, has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor (female). The other contestants in the race are DU Juan for ‘Blossoms Shanghai,’ Yeom Hye-ran for ‘Mask Girl,’ Moon Lee for ‘The Victim’s Game: Season 2,’ and Kim Hyoung-seo for ‘The Worst of Evil.’
