Mumbai: “One success paves the way for bigger successes"- this anecdote holds true for Shobhit Sinha, who wrote Housefull 5, the film which earned ₹133.2 crore net at the box office by the end of the eighth day on June 13. The Hindi comedy drama, starring an ensemble cast spearheaded by Akshay Kumar, was released on June 06 and had earned ₹127.25 crore net at the Indian box office in its first week..

Sinha, who is currently basking in the glory of this success, has now signed on to three big Bollywood projects, kickstarting a busy schedule. As per reports, he will be working on a horror-comedy with filmmaker Farhad Samji soon, who gave Shobhit his break in Housefull 5. In the film, Shobhit will be writing not just the story, but also the screenplay and dialogues.

On working with Samji, an elated Shobhit said that working with Sajid Nadiadwala sir, Tarun Mansukhani sir, and Akshay Kumar on a film of such a grand scale was special. “The energy on set, the commitment to excellence, and the high standards everyone brings made Housefull 5 one of the most memorable experiences of my career,” he added.

A TV guy at the core: Having written more than 2,500 screenplays for popular TV shows like Comedy Nights Bachao and Comedy Circus, Sinha is a household name when it comes to comedy. In addition, he conducts The Shobhit Sinha Show podcast, where he discusses his creative process. Besides these, he is also the head of Syaahityik Productions.

Donning multiple hats: Sinha has also written several viral advertising campaigns and online series. He has experimented with almost every genre possible. Speaking of how writing for a film was different from writing for other media, Sinha said, “It was an amazing experience working on this film. I had a great time. Writing comedy for movies is a different beast than TV. You have to pack more punch but keep the situational humour flowing naturally.”
