Thiruvananthapuram: A controversy has arisen following the wedding of renowned Malayalam music director Sushin Shyam, which took place at the Tripunithura Sree Poornathrayeesa temple

The event, attended by close friends and family, featured well-known actors Nazriya Nazim and Fahadh Faasil, whose participation has sparked backlash from extreme right-wing circles.

Advocate Krishna Raj, a prominent figure known for his inflammatory rhetoric/hate speech, took to Facebook to express outrage over what he described as a violation of temple customs. In his post, he asserted, "Do not expect that anyone who violates temple customs will be let off lightly."

Krishna Raj claimed that if non-Hindus are allowed entry into temples, it undermines the sanctity of the faith. He stated that the current state of affairs for Hindus is dire, especially under the management of certain temple trusts. He shared photos from the wedding and warned that such actions would not go unpunished.

The inflammatory post read: "This is the state of Hindus when certain groups manage the temples. Anyone from minority religions can enter the temple premises. We shall see what happens to those who defy the customs."

However, the advocate's post was criticised even by several right-wing individuals.

"There is nothing wrong with Fahadh and Nazriya attending the wedding held at the temple. I was involved in the videography for my friend's wedding there. On that day, many Christian and Muslim children were also present in the temple. When ceremonies, including weddings, take place within the temple grounds, people from various faiths come to participate. It is not the case that only Hindus are invited to such events. I completely disagree with this post," commented a user.
"You've lost your mind," stated another man.

The incident has drawn attention to the increasing polarisation around such events. (With inputs from Agencies)
