The highly anticipated film Game Changer, directed by Shankar and starring Ram Charan Teja, had generated immense buzz before its release, with audiences expecting a grand cinematic experience from a big-budget production. The movie kicked off with a strong opening, earning Rs 51 crore on its first day in India, sparking hope for a successful run at the box office. However, the film's fortunes took a sharp turn in the next few days, leaving the producer, Dil Raju, facing financial losses.
Game Changer, with a reported investment of Rs 450 crore, had managed to collect Rs 100 crore within the first few days of its release. According to figures from the tracking website Sacnilk, the film has earned only Rs 127 crore after 12 days of screening, raising concerns over its overall performance.
Reports indicate that Game Changer may soon be pulled from theatres as early as next week. With projections showing that the film could face a loss of approximately Rs 200 crore, the outcome of the project has come as a major blow to the producers. The film's underperformance comes on the heels of director Shankar's Indian 2, which also failed to perform well at the box office last year.
To mitigate the losses, producer Dil Raju has turned to Ram Charan for support. It is reported that Charan will be collaborating with Dil Raju on a new project to help recover from the financial setbacks caused by Game Changer. In an unexpected move, Charan is said to be willing to reduce his remuneration for this new film as part of his commitment to making up for the losses.
Ram Charan is currently busy working on a sports drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana, with Janhvi Kapoor starring as the female lead. Following this, Shankar is slated to begin work on Indian-3, starring Kamal Haasan, and then proceed with Velpari, a three-part film.
