Thrissur: Jenson, who is passionate about cinema, has participated in 2500 auditions for movies, short films and documentaries in the last nine years. Besides this, he adores cricket and this unusual combination has finally landed him a major role in a Tamil film starring Arjun and cricketer Harbhajan Singh. The movie starring Jenson named 'Friendship' will be released on September 17.

Jenson's resemblance to Tamil actor Yogi Babu is one of the reasons why he was selected for the role in the film. Comedian Yogi Babu, who was initially planned for the role had to withdraw from the project due to other commitments. It was then that directors John Paul Raj and Sham Surya noticed Jenson while watching the Malayalam movie 'Queen', directed by Dijo Jose Antony.

Jenson Alappat, a native of Thrissur, debuted in movies after a long stint as a theatre artist. After completing his BA Economics from Vyasa College in Vadakkancherry, he joined the professional theatre troupe, ‘Thrissur Stage India’. So far, he has acted in eight films released in Malayalam and two in Tamil.
