Actor Eric Dane completed filming for his final performance in the upcoming season of Euphoria before his death on 19 February 2026

The late Eric Dane finished filming his role in the third season of Euphoria prior to production wrapping in late 2025, according to entertainment reports.
Dane, aged 53, portrayed Cal Jacobs, a troubled and emotionally conflicted father of Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi. The character was known for secretive motel encounters with men and transgender women, alongside struggles with alcoholism that often resulted in aggressive behaviour.
The storyline of Cal Jacobs became one of the most discussed arcs in the series due to its portrayal of inner conflict and controversial themes.
A representative confirmed that Dane returned to the set in April 2025 after publicly revealing his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. Despite the illness, the actor expressed his determination to continue working.
Filming for season 3 was completed later in 2025. Media reports, including from entertainment outlets, stated that Dane had successfully finished his episodes before production concluded.
In a previous interview, Dane suggested that viewers would see “a moment of truth and some sort of redemption” for his character Cal Jacobs in the upcoming season, increasing anticipation around the storyline.
The new season of Euphoria is scheduled to premiere on 12 April 2026 on Hulu.
Dane died on 19 February 2026 after what his family described as a rapid 10-month battle with ALS. In a statement, his family said he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones and became an advocate for ALS awareness and research.
Tributes have been paid across the entertainment industry, including from his former Grey's Anatomy co-star Jessica Capshaw.
The production team of Euphoria has not released details about how his character’s arc will be concluded in the upcoming season.
