Filmmaker Pravin Narayanan has addressed criticism, labelling his latest release JSK, Janaki V vs State of Kerala, as propaganda. In a statement shared on social media, the director clarified that his intention behind the film was to give voice to women in the country rather than promote any political narrative.

Narayanan’s message, written in both English and Malayalam, directly addressed the ongoing controversy. “Those who said that Suresh Gopi is walking around Christian churches on his knees, David Abel who spoke against Father Franco is political propaganda, I tried to speak for the women of this country, I say once again, in this pouring rain, please comment below if there are toilets in our country where the majority of women can go to change their menstrual cloths cleanly, without shame, and without fear”, he wrote.

Narayanan further added, “Comments that deviate from this topic will be deleted - Public toilets in any state of the country called India can be commented - Those who are sure that Kerala is NO -1 should ask their own mother and sister for their opinion before commenting if possible”.

He concluded the post by saying, “Women can also share your experiences”.

JSK, which marks the 253rd film of actor Suresh Gopi, was released across theatres recently. The film also stars Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role as Janaki. The film is produced by J. Phanindra Kumar under the banner of Cosmos Entertainments, with Sethuraman Nair Kankol as co-producer.

The film has been released in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
