The first film, a lengthy 3.5-hour epic, opened strong, and the sequel promises an expanded conflict.

Ranveer Singh's action thriller Dhurandhar officially announced its sequel through a post-credits scene on December 5, revealing that Dhurandhar 2 will hit theatres on March 19, 2026, just over three months after the first instalment. The announcement, which drew loud cheers from audiences who stayed through the credits, sets up a high-stakes box office clash with Yash's Toxic and Ajay Devgn's Dhamaal 4, both scheduled for the same Eid 2026 weekend.
Simultaneous Production
The remarkably short gap between releases strongly indicates that director Aditya Dhar filmed both parts together, a strategy employed by previous two-part releases like Gangs of Wasseypur and Rakta Charitra. Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi, who appears in both instalments, confirmed in an interview with ITV Blink that the sequel is already complete and in post-production. "Part 2 has been shot, they are just working on its post-production, it will be released in a couple of months at the most," Bedi stated.
According to industry sources cited by Bollywood Hungama, Dhurandhar was originally conceived as a single film, but the decision to split it into two parts was made in early October during the editing phase. "It's a film which organically transformed into a two-parter based on the demand of the story," an insider revealed. With the first film clocking in at 3 hours and 34 minutes—making it the longest Bollywood release in 17 years—the extensive footage made a one-part format feel "like a rushed job," according to sources.
Opening Day Performance and Sequel Expectations
Dhurandhar opened to approximately Rs 13.67 crore on its first day across 5,000 screens in India, according to Sacnilk. The post-credits scene, which runs approximately four minutes, teases expanded conflict for the second instalment and officially titles it Dhurandhar 2 - Revenge. Bedi shared that his character, inspired by a real Pakistani politician, will have significantly more screen time in the sequel.
The March 19, 2026, release date positions the sequel during a convergence of major Indian festivals, including Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Eid al-Fitr, creating a potentially explosive four-day weekend at the box office. The film stars Ranveer Singh alongside an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun.
