He teases Ranveer Singh's performance will be even more impressive, and his own role as Ajay Sanyal will expand significantly, focusing on espionage training.

Actor R. Madhavan has ignited anticipation for Dhurandhar Part 2 with a striking declaration that the first film was merely a "trailer" for what audiences will witness in the sequel. Speaking in media interactions this week, Madhavan teased that Ranveer Singh's performance in the follow-up will far surpass his acclaimed work in the original spy thriller.
"Well, obviously I can't speak about it, but I am just saying, the first one was a trailer; wait till you see Ranveer," Madhavan told reporters when asked about the sequel's plot. The comment has sparked widespread excitement among fans, as Singh has already garnered extensive praise for his nuanced portrayal of Jaskirat Singh/Hamza in the first instalment, which was released on December 5 and has earned over ₹351 crore domestically as of December 14.

Expanded Roles and Espionage Training
Madhavan, who plays Intelligence Bureau director Ajay Sanyal, also confirmed his role will significantly expand in Dhurandhar 2, scheduled for theatrical release on March 19, 2026. "My screen presence is limited in the first part. But in the second part, which will release in March, there is a lot of my character as he trains Ranveer's character in skills of espionage warfare," the actor revealed in an interview with Bollywood Hungama.
The sequel is expected to delve deeper into the mentor-protégé dynamic between Ajay Sanyal and Jaskirat, exploring the transformation that the first film only hinted at in its post-credits sequence. According to multiple sources, Dhurandhar 2 will focus extensively on Jaskirat's evolution from recruit to the formidable operative Hamza.
Box Office Success Fuels Sequel Buzz
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has emerged as one of 2025's biggest Bollywood successes, with the spy-action thriller featuring an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. The film recorded the highest second Sunday collection for a Hindi film on December 14, demonstrating sustained audience interest.

Madhavan's comments suggest that the first film served primarily as groundwork for a more intense and darker narrative in the sequel. With filming reportedly wrapped and post-production underway, Dhurandhar Part 2 is positioned as one of 2026's most anticipated releases, though it will face competition from Yash's Toxic, also slated for March 19, 2026.
