Produced by Vinayak Ajith under the banner of Ajith Vinayak Films, PonMAN is based on G. R. Indugopan's novel Nalanju Cheruppakkar. In addition to Basil Joseph, other main cast members include Sajin Gopu, Lijo Mol Jose, Anand Manmadhan and Deepak Parampol. Set in the post-2003 era, the film follows the life of a young man named Ajesh, who is caught up in a wedding-related incident in the coastal regions of Kollam district, and has been well-received as a real-life story.
