Kochi: The Ernakulam District Sessions Court on Thursday has granted anticipatory bail to actor Mukesh. The relief came in the wake of a sexual harassment complaint filed by an actress, which led Mukesh to approach the court seeking anticipatory bail in the case.

The court has directed that Mukesh should not be arrested until September 3, when the plea will be reconsidered.

The Kochi Maradu Police registered a case against actor and MLA Mukesh based on a complaint lodged by an actress residing in Ernakulam.

Earlier, the Special Investigation Team recorded the complainant's statement. The case was registered under non-bailable sections. The complainant alleges that Mukesh used filthy language and demanded that she comply with his demands.

The Case

In her statement, she said, "When problems arise, crying doesn’t help. If wives don’t uphold propriety, husbands will look elsewhere. The lack of respect for women often leads to such situations. I have evidence, and although there were no opportunities to lodge a complaint before, changes in society, government, and law prompted me to come forward now. The issue of harassment affects not only women but also men."

She clarified that Mukesh’s actions are separate from his political affiliation and voiced her appreciation for the police's support. She also mentioned that several others have raised allegations against Mukesh, arguing that his position as an MLA is unjustified. She feels a sense of relief after speaking out and is optimistic about receiving justice, especially after the Chief Minister's backing.
