
Thiruvananthapuram: As it has been decided to keep the cinema theatres in the state closed till March 31 as more number of coronavirus cases have emerged in Kerala, much-awaited movies will be affected.
Following the virus outbreak, the release of Tovino Thomas’ ‘Kilometres and Kilometres’, scheduled for release on March 12, was shifted to another date due to Coronavirus infection outbreak.
Also, the release of Mohanlal- Priyadarshan team’s big budget film ‘Marakkar- Lion of Arabian Sea’ will have to be postponed. ‘Marakkar’ was planned on March 26 in 5000 screens in five languages. The new release date is not decided yet.
Another movie affected with the virus outbreak was ‘Vanku’ written by Unni R and directed by Kavya Prakash. Soon after the decision to close theatres, Kavya informed that the premier show of the movie which was slated for release on Wednesday is postponed.
The decision to close down theatres was made at a meeting of various cinema organizations held in Kochi. Theatre association authorities said that theatres will not be open from Wednesday. The meeting was called after Chief Minister made such a request in the press conference that was held on Tuesday morning.
