Fans of ‘Peaky Blinders’ finally have their first look at the long-awaited film adaptation, with the makers unveiling the title, cast details and release plans on Friday evening. Officially named ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’, the movie will hit select cinemas on 6 March 2026 before landing on Netflix worldwide on 20 March.

The project marks Cillian Murphy’s return to the character that defined nearly a decade of his career – Tommy Shelby – following the show’s conclusion in 2022. The feature, directed by Tom Harper and written by series creator Steven Knight, expands the Shelby saga into a wartime narrative set in 1940 Birmingham.

Star-studded ensemble and returning cast

Alongside Murphy, the film features an impressive line-up including Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Sophie Rundle, Barry Keoghan, Stephen Graham and Jay Lycurgo. Several familiar faces from the series also return, such as Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee and Ian Peck.

Paul Anderson reprises his role as Arthur Shelby, with Rundle and Joe Cole also back as Ada and John Shelby, continuing the family dynamics that made the original series a global hit.

Plot set against WWII turmoil

Netflix and Deadline shared the film’s first official synopsis, painting a darker, more personal chapter for the gang leader, "Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground."

Harper, who previously worked on the series, returns to direct a story that pulls Tommy into his most dangerous confrontation yet, with war and personal reckoning colliding at the heart of the narrative.

Reacting to the project, Murphy earlier stated, "This is one for the fans." The actor, who earned an Academy Award for Oppenheimer after the series ended, credited his portrayal of Tommy Shelby for catapulting him into international stardom.

The film extends the legacy of the BAFTA-winning drama, which ran from 2013 to 2022 across BBC Two, BBC One and eventually Netflix, where it developed a massive global following.

Release across cinemas and Netflix

Netflix confirmed the rollout in an official post on Friday, announcing that The Immortal Man would have a limited theatrical release before arriving on the streaming platform two weeks later.

“The legendary gypsy gangster Tommy Shelby returns in 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man'. In select theaters March 6 and on Netflix March 20, 2026," the platform wrote on Instagram.
