BTS stars Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook were formally discharged from South Korea’s mandatory military service on June 11, 2025, after serving for 18 months in the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province.

Their release followed RM and V’s recent discharge, leaving only SUGA, who is scheduled to complete his service by June 21.

The two youngest members of the global supergroup made their first public appearance post-service at Yeoncheon Public Stadium, where they addressed gathered fans and media without a formal ceremony. They saluted, smiled shyly, and said “Dan-gyeol!” — a Korean term for solidarity.

Speaking to reporters, Jungkook admitted feeling nervous:

“It's been so long since I've been in front of the camera, I'm embarrassed. I don't know what to say… Seniors, juniors, executives — thank you for taking such good care of us.”

Jimin added an emotional note:

“Thank you to the fans who came from far away. From COVID to the military — it’s been a long wait. The military wasn’t an easy place. We suffered together, ate and slept outside together. I gained a lot of respect. If you see soldiers on the street, even a small warm gesture would mean a lot.”

He also hinted at reconnecting with fans through Weverse:

“Now that I’m discharged, we can continue drawing the picture we started. I’ll share more gradually in a fun live.”

The duo had enlisted together on 12 December 2023. With this discharge, six of the seven BTS members — Jin, J-Hope, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook — have now completed their service. Once SUGA rejoins them on 21 June, BTS will officially be in a position to reunite.

Fans responded with overwhelming love, trending hashtags celebrating the duo’s return and posting emotional messages and photos. The HYBE headquarters is expected to host their first live session with fans soon, continuing the group’s post-military tradition.
