The Kerala Police's Facebook page recently shared a viral meme of actor-director Basil Joseph, which has taken over social media. The meme, poking fun at a lighthearted moment involving Basil, was posted by the police to promote their 'Chiri' project, an initiative designed to alleviate mental stress among children.
In their post, the Kerala Police wrote: "Chiri is a scheme started by the police to ease the mental stress in children. The Chiri helpline number, 9497900200, is not only available for children but also for teachers and parents who want to talk about children's issues." The post humorously pointed out that they will not ignore anyone, just like the player ignored Basil. A clever way of tying in the meme with their mental health initiative!
The meme quickly went viral, and social media users wasted no time in jumping into the fun. Some of the most popular comments included: "Basil Joseph’s mental stress increased after watching this," and "Pov Basil- You were the only ones left to troll me, Sabash!" One person even jokingly asked, "Is it admin Tovino, or will it be Sanju Samson?" The comments kept rolling in, each more hilarious than the last.
The source of the fun is a seemingly harmless but awkward moment at the Super League football final in Kozhikode. During the prize distribution ceremony, Basil extended his hand for a handshake with one of the players, but the player, not noticing him, ended up shaking hands with actor Prithviraj, who was standing nearby. The hilarious moment was caught on video, and, as expected, social media exploded with memes and jokes about Basil’s 'forgotten handshake.'
But it seems Basil is taking it all in stride. On his social media, he shared several pictures from the event, captioning one: "Even though I didn’t get the handshake, I got the cup, guys! @imsanjusamson @tovinothomas." Basil's lighthearted approach to the situation only added fuel to the fire, and fans couldn't help but join in.
Actress Nazriya had a perfect jab, commenting, "Where is the main photo?" referring to the moment when Basil stood there looking a bit confused while the player moved on without shaking hands. Sanju Samson also joined the fun, writing, "Next time, I will come with Malappuram FC to shake hands."
