Kochi: Actor Bala, arrested following a complaint from his former wife, is reportedly in poor health, according to his lawyer.

The lawyer stated that Bala expressed sadness about the situation, emphasizing that he had previously indicated a desire to stay out of any issues related to his daughter. He affirmed that if she wished to maintain distance from him, he would respect her wishes. The lawyer also noted that she was unaware of any legal violations Bala may have committed.

"Due to the nature of the case involving women and children, obtaining a copy of the FIR has proven challenging. It appears he is booked under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. We are gathering more information on other charges related to the arrest, which are bailable. If the arrest is officially recorded, Bala will need to be presented in court. He is willing to cooperate with the questioning," she said.

"Once a complaint is received, the police should follow established procedures. According to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), once a notice is issued as part of the investigation, we can approach the police station or discuss the complaint in a more comfortable setting," the lawyer explained.

In response to media inquiries, Bala's lawyer highlighted that the actor's blood pressure is currently high, prompting a request for urgent medical assistance.

"Currently, Bala is in a weakened condition; he requires substantial medication following liver surgery. He is also on a strict diet and relies heavily on his medication."

"As a lawyer, I believe that typically, after receiving such a complaint, a notice could have been issued out of humanitarian consideration. Bala was unaware of the complaint until it was filed at 8 PM the previous evening. I understand that this case is unlikely to be prolonged. There seems to be an ulterior motive aimed at causing harm, and we will take action against this," she stated.

The Kadavantra Police arrested Bala based on allegations made by his former wife, who claimed that he had defamed both her and their daughter via social media.

The complaint includes an allegation that Bala stalked her and harassed their daughter. Reports indicate that a non-bailable charge has been filed against Bala, who has been booked under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
