Ernakulam: After the success of Marco, Cubes Entertainments is rolling out yet another ambitious project, Kattalan, a pan-Indian action thriller marking the directorial debut of Paul George and starring Antony Varghese (Pepe) in the lead role. The film was officially launched at Chakkolas Pavilion in Ernakulam with a spectacular pooja ceremony that set a new benchmark in Malayalam cinema.

The grand launch event was attended by an array of top stars. The ceremonial lamp was lit by producer Shareef Muhammed along with his family and the film’s cast and crew.

Elephant 'Kalidasan' steals the show

In a one-of-a-kind gesture, the majestic tusker Chirackal Kalidasan, known for his appearances in mega-productions like Baahubali, welcomed guests at the entrance, donning a custom-made caparison inscribed with the film’s title, Kattalan. The elephant’s presence elevated the event’s grandeur and became the highlight of the day.

Star-studded launch

The event saw the presence of several celebrities including directors B. Unnikrishnan, Siddique, Jagadish, Bollywood actor Kabir Duhan Singh, I. M. Vijayan, Antony Varghese Pepe, director Haneef Adeni, Rajisha Vijayan, Hanan Shaah, Baby Jean, Sharaf U Dheen, director Jithin Lal, Anson Paul, Sagar Surya, Shon Roy, editor Shameer Muhammed and several other actors and technicians.

Rajisha Vijayan will play the female lead opposite Antony Varghese, while the film also brings together a strong supporting cast of Malayalam and pan-Indian talents, including Sunil, Anson Paul, Raj Tirandasu, and others.

Interestingly, Kattalan will feature Antony Varghese using his real name in the credits, deviating from his popular screen name ‘Pepe’.

The action in Kattalan will be choreographed by internationally renowned stunt director Kecha Khamphakdee, known for his work in films like Ong-Bak 2, Baahubali 2, Jawan, and Ponniyin Selvan. The film’s cinematography is by Renadive, while editing is handled by ace Malayalam editor Shameer Muhammed. Dialogues are penned by Unni R., and B. Ajaneesh Loknath, fresh off Kantara Chapter 2 is composing the music.
