Actress Ansiba Hassan steps down as AMMA joint secretary citing busy work schedules; President Shwetha Menon accepts the resignation.

Kochi: Actress Ansiba Hassan has resigned from her position as joint secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Following an Executive Committee meeting held in Kochi, AMMA president Shwetha Menon confirmed that the resignation has been officially accepted.
According to Shwetha Menon, Ansiba submitted her resignation as early as February 21, citing personal reasons and a demanding professional schedule. The President noted that Ansiba felt it was unfair to continue in the role if she could not dedicate sufficient time to the association's activities.
"Ansiba resigned due to personal and professional commitments," Shwetha Menon said.
"This is a role of selfless service. She believed it was not right to remain a member of the Executive Committee when she couldn't actively participate in meetings. We spoke with her during the committee session, and as she requested her resignation be accepted, the committee approved it."
Notably, Ansiba was the only candidate elected unopposed in the same election where Shwetha Menon was voted president and Kuku Parameswaran became general secretary.
The resignation comes at a sensitive time for the association. AMMA recently faced controversy following a workplace harassment complaint filed by an office staff member, Athulya, against Treasurer Unni Shivapal. While the complainant was initially dismissed, that decision has since been revoked, and Unni Shivapal has been directed to go on leave. Athulya has approached the Kochi Police Commissioner and the Labour Office, alleging mental harassment and a "slave driver" attitude from the Treasurer.
