Andrea Jeremiah revealed the reason behind her break from cinema, explaining that she took time off due to a rare skin condition. In an interview with the YouTube channel House of DD, she shared that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune skin condition.
"After the movie Vada Chennai, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune skin condition. Every day, I would wake up and notice my eyebrows and eyelashes turning white. New patches would appear on my body daily. All the blood tests came back normal, and I couldn’t understand why this was happening. Doctors said it might be a reaction to an unknown toxin or emotional stress," Andrea said.
She continued, "I realized I couldn’t be in this industry and not experience stress. Every time you do a role, it takes something out of you. So, I had to pull back and retreat. But when I returned, the media and industry speculated that I was depressed because of a man. The truth is, I went on a retreat to deal with a skin condition I chose not to talk about, and that was my choice. People don’t realize that when things like this happen, it takes at least a year to come to terms with it."
Andrea added that although she wasn’t very dark-skinned, she still had small patches on her skin. "I tried everything, and acupuncture worked for me. I did it for two years," she said.
"My eyebrows have a pale color, but it can be easily covered. For the most part, I feel that I’ve overcome it, largely due to a change in lifestyle, cutting down on work, and my pet dog. My dog didn’t just help me; he saved me. After he came into my life, new patches stopped appearing, and it became easier to cover the existing ones with makeup. I was able to shoot while dealing with this condition. I did films like Master and Pisasu and nobody knew about it," Andrea revealed.
