Anagha Ravi, who plays the character Natasha in Khalid Rahman’s much-awaited sports comedy ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana,’ has shared her experience of preparing for the physically demanding role in a newly released character reveal video.

Recalling how director Khalid Rahman guided her into the intense boxing-centric world of the film, Anagha said: “Rahman sir asked me two or three times whether I was ready to get beaten up. The best part about this character is that it's all about the mindset — boxing is life. Since it’s a character like that, you need to carry that attitude in your mind, your body language, and of course, it requires a lot of training. Somehow, the thought of boxing started to take over my mind.”

She also revealed how emotionally and physically immersive the training process became, crediting her coach for being hands-on in a way that helped her stay motivated. “Initially, I used to close my eyes whenever I got punched. Usually, a coach just tells you what to do and stands by the side. But my coach actually did the training with me, and because of that, I never felt like giving up. My first pad work session was the best — I still have the video.”

Anagha Ravi made her big screen debut in the critically acclaimed Mammootty-starrer ‘Kaathal: The Core,’ in which she played the role of Femy Mathew, daughter of Mammootty’s character.

Before entering mainstream cinema, Anagha had built a strong presence on social media through her dance reels and short films. One of her earlier works, the short film ‘New Normal,’ gained attention for its unconventional plot and performance.

‘Alappuzha Gymkhana,’ which is set to hit cinemas globally on April 10, stars Naslen in the lead role. The film marks a return to comedy for director Khalid Rahman and is jointly scripted by him and Sreeni Saseendran. The dialogues have been penned by Ratheesh Ravi, best known for ‘Ishq.’

Backed by Plan B Motion Pictures in association with Reelistic Studios, the film is produced by Khalid Rahman, Jobin George, Sameer Karat and Subeesh Kannanchery.

The ensemble cast features Lukman Avaran, Ganapathi, Sandeep Pradeep, Kottayam Nazeer, Franco Francis, rapper Baby Jean, Shiva Hariharan, Shon Joy, Karthik, Nanda Nishant and Noila Francy.

On the technical front, ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ brings together the blockbuster ‘Thallumaala’ team of cinematographer Jimshi Khalid, late editor Nishadh Yusuf and music composer Vishnu Vijay.
