AMMA to hold elections in three months after Mohanlal reportedly declines to continue as President

Kochi: The 31st general body meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), held on Sunday in Kochi, ended without electing a new executive committee, reportedly due to a lack of consensus among members.
It is learnt that a majority of the members were in favour of veteran actor Mohanlal continuing as the President of the organisation. However, the actor reportedly expressed his reluctance to take up the role once again. This development is said to have prompted the decision to postpone the election.
According to reports, AMMA is now expected to hold elections within the next three months to elect a new governing body. In the interim, the existing ad-hoc committee will continue to manage the organisation's affairs.
The meeting also saw the presence of actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who participated in the proceedings after 13 years.
