Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who recently celebrated his birthday, has opened up about a significant flaw in his performance in the highly successful sports biopic Dangal. The surprising part is that it was veteran megastar Amitabh Bachchan who pointed out the mistake.
Aamir shared the story during a special screening of his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak at the Red Lorry Film Festival in Mumbai. While discussing his role in Dangal, which went on to become his highest-grossing film, Aamir admitted that despite considering it one of his best works, he had a critique for himself.
The flaw, according to Aamir, occurred in one of the film’s early sequences. In the scene, Aamir's character, a young Mahavir Singh Phogat, celebrates his win in a match by saying “Yes.” Aamir recalled that Amitabh Bachchan pointed out that Mahavir, being from a rural background, would never say “Yes” in that context. He shared, “Big B pointed out that the gesture threw me out of character.”
Aamir went on to say that he regrets the moment but explained that there was no way to remove it from the final edit. "If that bit was removed, it would have affected the entire film," he said. The actor concluded by reflecting on the fact that no performance is perfect and that mistakes are inevitable, given human nature.
