Hyderabad: Actor Allu Arjun, arrested in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at a cinema screening of Pushpa 2, has been granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court. This came just hours after the Nampally Magistrate Court remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody. The High Court granted bail, emphasising that Allu Arjun, despite being a celebrity, is entitled to live as a citizen with the freedom and rights of any individual.
Allu Arjun was arrested by the Telangana Police on Friday afternoon at his residence in Jubilee Hills and was taken to the Chikadpally Police Station. His brother Allu Sirish, father Allu Aravind and producer Dil Raju arrived at the station, where the actor’s statement was recorded in detail.

Following this, he was subjected to a medical examination at Gandhi Hospital before being presented in the Nampally Magistrate Court, which ordered his remand. However, as the High Court was set to hear a petition for the cancellation of the case and bail, he was not moved to jail until the interim bail was granted.

The police had filed the case against Allu Arjun several days before his arrest. The incident occurred at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4, where the stampede broke out during the screening of Pushpa 2. The theatre staff, two of whom had already been arrested, are also accused in the case. Allu Arjun’s arrest followed after the police visited his home on Friday. The emotional scenes during the arrest were captured in video footage.
The videos show Allu Arjun calmly drinking coffee while the police waited at his house. His wife Sneha Reddy, brother Allu Sirish and father Allu Aravind were with him at the time. The police waited until he finished his coffee before escorting him to the station.

Before leaving, Allu Arjun was seen giving his wife a kiss and reassuring his family not to worry. He told them that everything would be fine and, after finishing his coffee, said, "Now we can go, sir," before leaving with the police officers.

The stampede at Sandhya Theatre led to the tragic death of a woman, Revathi, and injury to her son. The incident occurred as the crowd grew uncontrollable after Allu Arjun’s surprise visit at the theatre.
