Mumbai: Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against director, producer, and writer Kawal Sharma for allegedly cheating actress Kiran Ahuja of Rs 71.50 lakh by promising returns on investments in movies and web series.
The case has been filed under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the BNS. According to the FIR, Sharma repeatedly approached Ahuja since 2016, assuring her of acting roles and profitable returns on investments.
In August 2024, Sharma allegedly persuaded Ahuja to invest Rs 60–70 lakh in a web series and a film, promising a return of Rs 1 crore. When Ahuja sought repayment in May 2025, two cheques provided by Sharma reportedly bounced.
Ahuja had paid a total of Rs 71.50 lakh to Sharma over the period. Police are investigating the case. IANS
