
The highly anticipated list of nominees for the 97th Academy Awards has been revealed. The nominations had originally been planned for January 17. But after wildfires on January 7 began burning through parts of Los Angeles, leaving behind mass destruction, the academy extended its voting window and twice postponed the nominations announcement.
Leading the nominations is Jacques Audiard’s Spanish-language, French-made film, Emilia Pérez, with 13 nods, including a historic nomination for Karla Sofía Gascón. The ceremony will be broadcast on 2 March from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
