Mumbai: The internet lit up this week with claims that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan charged a staggering ₹20 crore for a brief 15-minute cameo in Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film Coolie. But sources close to the actor have now set the record straight and the truth might surprise fans.
Contrary to the buzz, Aamir has not taken a single rupee for his role in the film. According to a report by India Today, the actor agreed to appear in Coolie purely out of admiration for Rajinikanth, and respect for the film’s team.
In Coolie, Aamir plays a ruthless mafia don named Daaha, a character that’s already created a buzz online following the release of his intense first look. Although it’s a short appearance, his gritty portrayal is expected to leave a strong impact.
What is the Coolie cast salary?
While Aamir’s contribution comes without a fee, Coolie remains one of the most high-budget films of the year, with other cast and crew members reportedly earning record-breaking sums as reported by Deccan Herald.
Rajinikanth himself is believed to be taking home ₹200 crore, an increase from the previously reported ₹150 crore, driven by exceptional advance bookings. Other stars such as Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Upendra are also part of the ensemble, each reportedly receiving hefty pay cheques from 10 crores to 5 crores.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is reportedly charging ₹50 crore, and composer Anirudh Ravichander is believed to be earning ₹15 crore.
When is Coolie releasing?
The wait won’t be long, Coolie is officially set to release on Thursday (August 14, 2025), just in time for the Independence Day weekend. With such a powerhouse combination of talent and star power, the film has quickly become one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year.
