The blockbuster, which grossed over ₹510 crore worldwide, is one of Tamil cinema’s biggest digital deals, with Prime Video reportedly paying ₹120 crore for the streaming rights.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s blockbuster action-thriller ‘Coolie’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is set for its digital premiere less than a month after its theatrical debut.
According to an official post on Prime Video’s Instagram, the film will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on September 11, 2025. The platform reportedly acquired the streaming rights for ₹120 crore, one of the biggest digital deals in Tamil cinema to date, according to the Economic Times.
The film will stream in Tamil, with dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
‘Coolie’ released in theatres on August 14, marking Rajinikanth’s 50th year in cinema. The film combined high-octane action sequences with a nostalgic nod to the superstar’s earlier days, delighting both long-time fans and new audiences. During its box-office run, the movie grossed ₹282.46 crore net domestically and ₹176.65 crore overseas, pushing its global tally past the ₹510 crore mark.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, ‘Coolie’ features an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Rachita Ram, with Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde appearing in special roles.
The story follows a former coolie union leader investigating his friend’s death, eventually uncovering a powerful crime syndicate.
