Nayanthara’s upcoming documentary has hit a roadblock after the makers of ‘Chandramukhi’ objected to the use of film clips without permission, sparking fresh legal trouble

Chennai: Actor Nayanthara’s much-anticipated documentary has landed in fresh legal trouble after the makers of ‘Chandramukhi’ raised objections over the alleged unauthorized use of clips from the 2005 blockbuster in the film.
According to industry sources, the producers of ‘Chandramukhi’ have accused the documentary team of incorporating key scenes from the Rajinikanth-starrer without seeking prior approval. Legal notices have reportedly been issued, demanding the removal of the footage or a formal licensing agreement.
“This is a clear violation of copyright. You can’t use our film without permission,” a source close to the Chandramukhi production team told reporters.
The documentary, which traces Nayanthara’s journey in cinema, was slated for release on an OTT platform later this year. The controversy, however, could delay its streaming schedule until the matter is resolved.
Fans have expressed disappointment on social media, saying the documentary had generated high expectations as it promised a rare glimpse into Nayanthara’s rise from debutante to one of South India’s leading stars.
Meanwhile, Nayanthara’s team has yet to issue an official statement regarding the dispute.
