"Electronic dance music is finding more acceptance in India compared to earlier," said Mysuru-based artiste Siva Prayojan on the sidelines of Kappa CULTR 2025, currently underway at Bolgatty Palace in Kochi, Kerala.

Speaking to Mathrubhumi, Siva shared his excitement about being part of one of the hottest music festivals in the country. "I have heard so much about Kappa since last year from my friends who attended. To be part of it this time is beyond words. The stage, the setup, the hospitality -- it’s all world-class,” he said.

Despite his packed schedule, Siva expressed a desire to stay longer. "The vibe here is incredible, and the stage is unbelievable. It’s truly world-class," he said.

Performing for the first time at a festival of this scale in Kerala, Siva collaborated with Vinayak^a for a unique set. "We are playing something very different -- not a typical club set. It is a live set where we mix break beats, ragas, and instruments. It’s all about experimenting, and this fits perfectly with Kappa CULTR's tagline 'Same Same But Different'."

Speaking about the growing acceptance for EDM in India, he remarked, "EDM in India has seen its ups and downs. We often follow trends from foreign countries, but once those trends fade there, they fade here too. What I’m trying to do is blend Indian sounds with electronic music -- something I call Indotech. Our country has so many unique instruments and regional sounds. Why not incorporate them? People are beginning to accept this more now than ever before."

Siva also recalled his most memorable performance with Hannes Bieger in Bengaluru. "That was the first time I played a truly live set. Hannes, who’s an inspiration for me, performed after me and praised my act on stage. That was one of the memorable moments."
