Washington: Singer-songwriter Chris Martin, co-founder of the rock band Coldplay, had a close call while performing in Australia. The incident occurred during the band’s final show at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, where Martin was sharing stories with the audience from their international Music of the Spheres World Tour. Suddenly, he fell through an open trap door on stage.

One fan who captured video of the incident captioned his post on X, "The moment Chris Martin fell through a trap door right in front of me at the #Coldplay concert tonight."

Martin told the audience: "That's not planned!" He added jokingly, "Holy..., that was nearly a YouTube moment!" as cited by People magazine.

Coldplay’s extensive tour began in March 2022 and is set to wrap up in September 2025, concluding with a 10-day performance at London’s Wembley Stadium. Following their Melbourne concert, Martin and his bandmates—guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion—are heading to Sydney to complete their Australian tour before moving on to New Zealand.

In addition to their touring schedule, Coldplay is preparing to release new music. In June, they launched their 10th studio album, Moon Music, along with the single “feelslikeimfallinginlove.”
