“After a couple of takes he told me…,” Rukmini revealed.

Vijay Sethupathi, one of the most revered actors in the country, is currently basking in the success of Thalaivan Thalaivii, directed by Pandiraj, in which he is cast opposite the versatile Nithya Menen. The family drama enjoyed a successful run in theatres upon its release.
‘Makkal Selvan’, whether as ‘Sandhanam’ in Vikram or as ‘Ram’ in 96, has always enthralled fans with his impeccable acting. His mastery of the craft is widely admired by colleagues, who frequently shower him with praise.
Amid the accolades, actor Rukmini Vasanth—who shared screen space with Vijay Sethupathi in the recently released film Ace, written, directed and produced by Arumuga Kumar—made a notable observation. The film garnered mixed reviews; however, what is doing the rounds on the internet is Rukmini’s candid revelation about Vijay Sethupathi.
Speaking to Cinema Vikatan and recalling the filming of the song “Urugudhu Urugudhu” from Ace, Rukmini said:
“There is a scene where Vijay and I look at each other while standing on opposite sides of a pane of glass. After a couple of takes, he asked me to sport a broader smile; in response, he pulled a ‘crazy face’, as you can see in the video. That made me respond in the scene with a similar expression,” Rukmini recalled pleasantly.
“That’s what happens when you act with great actors—you have to be lively at all times. Sometimes I feel it’s okay to be a little ‘overconfident’ with such amazing talent around us; it actually helps improve our performance,” the young actor said.
Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Train, directed by Mysskin and featuring Makkal Selvan. Rukmini Vasanth also has several exciting films lined up, including the highly anticipated Kantara: Chapter 1 and Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.
The anecdote serves as an example of how camaraderie between artists can lead to richer creative collaborations.
