Mumbai: Television actress Dipika Kakar, who is battling stage 2 liver cancer, shared a video on her official YouTube channel and revealed that the most challenging aspect about her prognosis was abruptly weaning her son, Ruhaan, overnight after learning about the cancerous tumour.

“It was a major surgery. The first thing I had to do, which was one of the most difficult things, was wean Ruhaan in one night. I didn’t have an option. I had to do that. Main bahut royi…(I cried a lot that night). I had to wean him anyway as he will soon turn two, but I didn’t know it would be like this,” Kakar shared in her YouTube video.

Kakar confirmed that she is now ‘free from the tumour’ but noted that further treatment is still required. In the video, she expressed her gratitude to her fans, doctors, and the medical staff.

However, the ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ actress also spoke about the positive side of the depressing moment and opined that there is always a good reason for everything. She said in the video, “When we found out that my tumour was second-stage cancer, I was still feeding him. But then weaning off was good because I was relieved to know that he didn’t have to be fed what I was supposed to have, like medications, etc.”

The actress said she was blessed for receiving such love and light, without which it would have been impossible to battle this life-threatening medical condition. “I’ve cried a lot — out of happiness — knowing that so many people love me so much. I feel truly blessed. And I also feel a little proud that I’ve earned so much love," she said.
