Veteran actor Dharmendra has been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital and is recovering at home, with Hema Malini admitting the past few days have been “not easy” for the family.

Mumbai: Veteran actor Dharmendra was discharged from Breach Candy Hospital early Wednesday morning after undergoing routine medical tests, his family and doctors confirmed. The 89-year-old star is now recovering at his Juhu residence under home-based medical supervision.
Amid social media speculation and concern from fans, the Deol family issued a statement urging privacy and reassuring the public that Dharmendra is stable. They also echoed his familiar warmth, reminding well-wishers, “He loves you,” a phrase he often uses in his Instagram messages.
Home recovery recommended, says doctor
Dharmendra’s treating physician, Dr Pratit Samdani, said the actor was discharged at around 7.30 am.
“His treatment and recovery management will continue at home,” he said, adding that the family opted for at-home care to ensure greater comfort and continuous monitoring.
Hema Malini opens up on emotional strain
Speaking to Subhash K Jha, Hema Malini admitted the last few days have been challenging. “It has not been an easy time for me,” she said.
“Dharamji’s health is a matter of great concern for us. His children are sleepless. I can’t afford to be weak, too many responsibilities. But yes, I am happy he’s back home.”
Expressing gratitude and faith, she added, “We are relieved he is out of the hospital. He needs to be among the people he loves. Baki toh sab oopar wale ke haath mein hai (Everything else is in the hands of the Almighty). Please pray for us.”
Industry colleagues visit at home
Soon after his discharge, several friends and colleagues visited Dharmendra at home. His cousin and Ziddi director Guddu Dhanoa said, “All I can say is that he is doing fine. I can’t say anything further.”
Filmmaker Anil Sharma, who collaborated with Dharmendra and his sons in Apne (2007), also met the actor. “He is a fighter, he is a hero, and he will be alright,” Sharma told PTI.
Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra’s iconic co-star from ‘Sholay’ (1975), was also seen personally driving to the residence to check on him.
As wishes and prayers continue to pour in from across the industry and beyond, the Deol family remains focused on ensuring the legendary actor recovers peacefully and comfortably at home.
