According to a report by Variety India, the birthday release will also mark a major step in the film's promotional campaign. The makers are expected to build up the publicity around the film following the song's launch. Shah Rukh had earlier confirmed that Arijit Singh would sing the lead track, saying the team was waiting for the singer to complete the final touches.

The song announcement comes amid reports of a change in the film's music team. Anirudh Ravichander has reportedly stepped away from the project due to his existing commitments. However, he is said to have composed the film's theme track as a contribution to Shah Rukh Khan. Sachin-Jigar are expected to take charge of the remaining album and background score, including reworking the theme for the film's score.

'King' reportedly sells overseas rights for ₹175 crore

The film has also attracted attention in the trade circles. According to reports, Dubai-based Phars Films has acquired the overseas theatrical distribution rights for ‘King’ for a reported minimum guarantee of ₹175 crore. If confirmed, this would be the highest overseas distribution deal for an Indian film so far.

The deal reportedly replaces the earlier arrangement with Yash Raj Films, which had been expected to handle the film's international distribution. The scale of the agreement also brings significant box-office expectations. According to reports, the film may need to earn around ₹350-375 crore overseas to help the distributor recover its investment.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘King’ marks his reunion with Shah Rukh after ‘Pathaan’.

The film features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arshad Warsi. It is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2026.
