Shah Rukh Khan reacts to daughter Suhana Khan singing Ed Sheeran's fast-paced rap in 'Tu Mil Jaaye' from 'King', admitting he struggled to remember the lyrics.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has admitted that remembering the fast-paced English lyrics in 'Tu Mil Jaaye', a song from his upcoming film 'King', was no easy task. The actor made the revelation while reacting to a new Instagram video shared by his daughter, actor Suhana Khan, who appeared to have mastered the track's lyrics.
Suhana posted a reel on Thursday, offering a glimpse of her getting ready for filmmaker and designer Manish Malhotra's Diwali party. The video features her singing along to 'Tu Mil Jaaye', including the English rap section performed by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
Shah Rukh was quick to notice her impressive recall of the lyrics and expressed his surprise in the comments section. "How do you remember the words!!! It was so difficult for me because Ed sings so fast!!!" he wrote.
Ed Sheeran's Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan
'Tu Mil Jaaye' was released on November 2, coinciding with Shah Rukh's 61st birthday. The track brings together Ed Sheeran, Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with the latter two lending their vocals alongside Sheeran's English rap.
Composed by Sachin-Jigar, the song features lyrics by Kumaar, while Sheeran has written and performed the English portion. The collaboration marks the British singer's Bollywood debut.
Following the song's release, Sheeran shared a personal note on Instagram, explaining how his friendship with Shah Rukh eventually paved the way for the collaboration.
Recalling their first meeting, the singer said the actor had expressed his wish to have him contribute a song to one of his films. Their professional association eventually took shape during Sheeran's most recent visit to India.
The singer had visited Shah Rukh's residence to request a cameo from the actor for the music video of 'Sapphire', his collaboration with Arijit Singh. During the meeting, Shah Rukh introduced him to composers Sachin-Jigar, leading to the creation of 'Tu Mil Jaaye'.
“When i first met Shah Rukh, he said i must make a song to be in his next movie and also be my first Bollywood song. We’ve got to know each other over the years and i love him. Last time i was India i went to his house to get him to shoot a cameo in the Sapphire music video for me and @arijitsingh. He introduced me to @sachinjigar that day and I wrote and recorded my verse for Tu Mil Jaaye for his movie King that night,” he wrote.
Sheeran also spoke about his excitement at having Arijit Singh on the track, describing the collaboration as a coming together of some of his favourite people.
“I love that Arijit is singing on it with me too, all my favourite people on one project. King is out December 24th and Tu Mil Jaaye is out everywhere now,” he added.
Shah Rukh Khan returns with 'King' on December 24
Directed by Siddharth Anand, 'King' features Shah Rukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, among others. The film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Marflix Pictures.
The upcoming action entertainer marks another collaboration between Shah Rukh and Siddharth Anand, who previously worked together on the 2023 blockbuster 'Pathaan'.
'King' is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24, 2026. The film marks Shah Rukh's return to the big screen following his three theatrical releases in 2023 – 'Pathaan', 'Jawan' and 'Dunki'.
