Uwe von Seltmann is a German freelance author, researcher, filmmaker, and project manager. With over 30 years of work focused on the effects of the Nazi era and Jewish and Yiddish culture in Eastern and Western Europe, he collaborates with organizations across Germany, Poland, Israel, the USA, and Ukraine. His book Schweigen die Täter, reden die Enkel (2004) became a standard work in German-speaking countries. His joint project with his wife Gabriela, The Future of the Past: A Family Research, explores the repercussions of the Holocaust and transgenerational trauma, resulting in books such as Todleben (2012) and How Love Can Heal the Past (2016). Von Seltmann is also the author of Es brennt (2018) and Wir sind da! (2021) and co-director of the award-winning Yiddish documentary Boris Dorfman – A mentsh (2014). He translates Yiddish into German.
