Tomica Šćavina, born in 1975 in Vodice, Croatia, is a novelist, poet, and children's book author. She graduated in psychology from the University of Zagreb and has published several acclaimed works. Her debut novel, Brod za Lajku (The Ship for Laika), was a finalist for the VBZ Award, while Povratak genija (The Return of the Genius) won both the Sfera and Artefakt Awards. Her third novel, Soba na dnu mora (The Room at the Bottom of the Sea), was also a VBZ Award finalist. Šćavina has authored illustrated children's books, including Krotitelj oblaka (The Cloud Tamer) and two poetry collections, Ornamenti pada (Ornaments of the Fall) and Kuća od vjetra (The House of Wind). She has taught at Vern University and participated in multiple international artist residencies. Tomica is a Croatian Freelance Artists' Association member and the Croatian Writers' Society.
