Noted short story writer, novelist and screen play writer C. V. Balakrishnan is best known for his debut novel ‘Ayussinte Pusthakam’, which is one of the most noted works in Malayalam literature, which he wrote in late 1970-s when he moved to Calcutta. His other major works include  Athmavinu Sariyennu Thonnunna Karyangal, Kannadikkadal, Kamamohitham, Ozhiyabadhakal, Librarian, Etho Rajavinte Prajakal, Ottakkoru Penkutty, Jwalakalapam, Bhoomiyepatti Adhikam Parayenda, Snehavirunnu, Malakhamar Chiraku Veesumbol, Pranayakalam, Bhavabhayam, Manjuprathima and Mechilpurangal. His autobiography ‘Paralmeen Neenthunna Padam’ was published in 2013. Apart from winning two Kerala Sahithya Academy Awards, he has also won the coveted Padmaprabha Award, Muttathu Varkki Award.  He has penned story for the movies Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal and Irattakuttikalude Achan and screen play for the films Mattoral, Vellivelichathil and Orma Mathram.
