Thiruvananthapuram: In our frenetic age, audio narratives offer a rare opportunity for slow immersion, said Rebecca Mead. Podcasts are designed to take up time: they are for those moments when you can’t be jumping among apps on your phone. The Mathrubhumi organised a workshop on Podcasting as part of the International Festival of Letters 2019 in Black Box at Kanakakunnu Palace. Prof Devadas Rajaram was the chief speaker.

Prof Rajaram, an advocate of technology oriented storytelling, used interactive power point presentations and conventional white board to convey his subject. Podcasting in simple words is audio storytelling; dissemination of voice through internet. He opined that podcasting is not merely a technology but the technology has played a part in making it popular.

Many enthusiastic youth and technically driven people attended the workshop. Prof Devadas introduced many free software’s and platforms to the listeners. The tips and suggestions given by him were very informative to the viewers.  In this workshop, the facilitator also covered all the aspects of podcasting; how to create podcasts; how it was popularised; what all equipments and software’s required to produce podcast.

Also the speaker suggested some good podcasts for beginners and how they can gain skills in podcasting with business and community benefits. Prof Devadas Rajaram will be speaking at the MBIFL19 at Mathrubhumi Hall venue on the topic ‘How Artificial Intelligence Is Reshaping Journalism’ tomorrow evening 4PM.  The MBIFL19 is being conducted in eight venues here from January 31 to February 3.
