Thiruvananthapuram: The curtains came down on the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters held at Kanakakkunnu in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday with Governor P Sathasivam inaugurating the Valedictory function.

The Governor congratulated team Mathrubhumi for organising such a prestigious event that provided a platform for the literary minds from different parts of the world to meet. He also welcomed the decision to conduct the festival every year.

PV Chandran, Managing Editor of Mathrubhumi, said that it is with great pride that the festival was organised for people to have a unique a new experience. Renowned film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan who delivered the keynote address said that he was extremely sad that he couldn't be physically present at the first two days of the festival.

He also said that the fest paved way for the 'congregation of like minds'. 

M.P. Veerendra Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Mathrubhumi, who delivered the presidential address, said that Mathrubhumi will organise the same fest next year from February 1 to 3 at the same venue. . 

Veerendra Kumar also said that the fest helped to convey ideas and exchange culture through the medium of literature. 

The function that was hosted by Neethi Raveendran concluded with Unni Balakrishnan, Chief of News, Mathrubhumi Channel, delivering the vote of thanks.
